The Unti vineyards are the sources, for us, of the Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah that comprise our Rocks And Gravel blend. They’re grown in more or less the center of the Sonoma County Region known as the Dry Creek Valley, which has been an important source of premium wine grapes in California for more than 40 years. The vines that produce our grapes at Unti were planted in the 1990’s. Grenache and Syrah are grown on benchland soils above Dry Creek, comprised of gravelly and silty loams, and the Mourvedre is on clay loam soil, closer to the old creek bed.
The Untis practice biodynamic farming, which focusses on the health of the soils. Not surprisingly the grapes we receive from the Untis are exceptionally fine winemaking material.
